NorTrap is a forward-thinking new company that has developed groundbreaking technology after years of research. Our goal is to help make the ocean cleaner and more sustainable while also helping fishermen make their operations more efficient and profitable. We do this by giving fishermen important information they need.
NorTrap was started in 2023 after years of research by Dag Frode Aasnes and is based in Sandnes, Norway. We have a growing team of experts with a mix of technical knowledge and experience in the fishing industry. Our team is driven by a passion for technology, fisheries, and the mission to make our oceans better.
I'm the inventor of the ResqUnit flotation device and now NorTrap TrapSaver™ and PopupBuoy™ products. I take pride in being a developer of marine solutions that help tackle the problem of ghost fishing.
The main goal is to protect the environment by coming up with innovative solutions. I aim to lessen financial losses for fishermen, whether they're doing it as a hobby or as a profession, all over the world. At the same time, I want to decrease the number of ghost traps and other fishing gear that currently pose a threat to fish, crabs, and lobsters in coastal areas worldwide.
